We're taking advantage of the new technology and creating a space for adjuncts at Pace University in New York to keep one another informed of what's happening with our union negotiations for a contract, and to discuss whatever pedagogical issues occur in our classrooms that we'd like to share with other Pace adjuncts and maybe get some feedback. Talking about strikes, I guess we are facing that possibility; I don't want to say "inevitability" because that's (gulp) awesome and scary. I think I'll get it together later today to post an informal report on the Wednesday, March 26, 2008 Management-Union negotiations, where our Pay Proposal was presented and they caucused for four hours. And then offered us a measly concession of $50 up per credit hour from their earlier proposal for pay minimums, which they had pitched at $750 per credit hour. What an insult!

I'm glad to start connecting with other adjuncts.
I feel like I know very little- i'm only teaching one class, and am not sure about my future here yet. It looks like I'll have another class or two but one never knows. anyway, thanks for setting up this blog.
Susan has done a wonderful job creating this blog for Pace adjuncts. Although we have been negotiating for more than three years, we are finally beginning to see some movement in a positive direction from the university. I truly hope that President Friedman and Provost Brackett are sincere in their goal to have a contract which is acceptable to both parties in place in the not too distant future.
